The bottom line
Clover doesn’t publish its processing rates or plan prices in Canada. You pay a monthly software fee plus a rate per transaction, and the only way to see either is a custom quote.
Two things matter more than the quote itself. Clover devices can’t be used with other processors, and cancellation fees depend on which company sells it to you. Get both in writing before you sign.

Who it’s for
- Owners who want help in person. Clover says its Canadian business consultants are available in person or by phone, with a free demo and a custom quote.
- Businesses planning to stay with one processor for the long run. The hardware only works with Clover processing, so it suits owners who don’t expect to switch.
Who should skip it
- Owners who want to compare prices before talking to sales. Clover’s Canadian site doesn’t list rates or plan prices.
- Anyone who might switch processors later. Clover devices can’t be used with other processors, so leaving means new hardware.
- Owners who want one clear set of contract terms. Terms and termination fees vary by the company selling Clover to you.
The catch
Your hardware is locked to Clover. Clover says its devices “cannot be used with other payment processors,” even when bought or leased from another company.
The seller sets the terms. Clover is sold directly and by partners. Clover says contract terms and termination fees “can vary based on your service provider.” Two Clover quotes from two sellers can come with different cancellation fees.
No published prices. Clover lists three plans (Starter, Standard and Advanced) but no prices, and no processing rates.
The example rates aren’t real rates. Clover’s pricing page shows example numbers to explain how its rates work. Don’t mistake them for a quote.
What Clover says you won’t pay. Clover’s page says there’s no PCI charge and no batch close fees. Check your quote and contract say the same.
What to ask for in a quote
Since Clover doesn’t publish prices, we can’t estimate a monthly total. Ask for these in writing, then compare them with your current costs in the fee calculator:
- Who your provider is. Clover Direct or a partner? Your terms depend on it.
- The processing rate for each payment type: in-person credit, Interac debit, American Express, and online or keyed-in payments. Get the percentage and the per-payment fee.
- The monthly software fee for the plan you’d be on (Starter, Standard or Advanced).
- Hardware cost: the price to buy, or the total you’d pay over a full lease. Remember it only works with Clover processing.
- Contract length and the exact cancellation fee, and what happens to a lease if you leave early.
- Any other fees, and a written note confirming there’s no PCI charge or batch close fee, as Clover’s page says.

Common questions
How much does Clover cost in Canada?
Clover doesn't publish prices on its Canadian site. It says merchants pay a monthly software fee plus processing rates per transaction, with Starter, Standard and Advanced software and hardware plans. Fees vary by business type. You get the actual numbers in a custom quote, so ask for every rate and fee in writing.
Can I use Clover hardware with another processor?
No. Clover's Canadian pricing page says that while Clover devices may be bought or leased from other companies, they cannot be used with other payment processors. If you leave Clover's processing later, plan on buying new hardware. Factor that into the cost before you buy or lease.
Does Clover have a cancellation fee?
It depends on who sold it to you. Clover says contract terms and any termination fees can vary based on your service provider, whether that's Clover Direct or one of its partners. Ask the company quoting you for the contract length and the exact cancellation fee, in writing, before you sign.
Is Clover's 1.0% + 10¢ a real rate?
No. Clover's Canadian pricing page uses 1.0% + 10¢ only as an example of how its rates are built: a percentage of each sale plus a flat fee per charge. It also gives 2.0% + 10¢ as an example keyed-in fee. Neither is a published rate. Your actual rates come in a quote.
