How we pick
For every type of business we compare providers on four things, in this order:
- Total cost at your size. Not the headline rate. The rate plus monthly fees, hardware and the extras most people miss.
- Contract terms. Month-to-month beats a multi-year contract with a cancellation fee, all else equal.
- Fit. A restaurant needs table and kitchen features. A market stall needs a cheap card reader and no monthly fee. The best provider depends on the business.
- Transparency. A provider that publishes its prices gets credit for it. “Call for a quote” is not a price.
Where prices come from
Every rate, fee and contract term on this site comes from the provider’s own published pages. Each comparison shows the date we last checked. See how we verify prices.
Updates
We re-check every provider’s pricing at least every three months, and sooner when a provider announces a change.
Corrections
If we got something wrong, we want to know. Tell us and we will check it against the provider’s own page and correct it, usually within two business days.
