The bottom line
TouchBistro is POS software built only for restaurants. Its point of sale is listed at $89 a month on their site, and its Essentials bundle at $99 a month. The page doesn’t say which currency.
Hardware, payment processing and other fees are extra, and TouchBistro doesn’t publish its processing rates. So the $89 is a starting point, not what you’ll pay. You need a quote to know the real cost.

Who it’s for
- Restaurants that want a POS made for restaurants. TouchBistro says its software is “built just for restaurants.”
- Venues with two or more terminals. TouchBistro offers hardware financing for venues with two or more terminals.
- Owners happy to get a quote and compare it. You’ll need to, because the processing rates aren’t published.
Who should skip it
- Retail shops and service businesses. It’s a restaurant-only POS.
- Owners who want to see the full price before talking to sales. Processing rates, hardware prices and contract terms aren’t published.
- Very small cafes watching every dollar. The plan fee comes before any processing costs.
The catch
The starting price leaves a lot out. TouchBistro says “hardware, payment processing, and additional fees apply” on top of the $89 starting price.
Processing rates are by quote only. TouchBistro processes payments through integrated partners and doesn’t publish what that costs.
The currency isn’t labelled. TouchBistro’s pricing page doesn’t say whether prices are in Canadian or US dollars, and there’s no Canada-specific pricing page.
Contract terms aren’t published. The pricing page doesn’t list a contract length or cancellation fee.
What to ask for in a quote
Since TouchBistro doesn’t publish its processing rates, we can’t estimate a monthly total. Ask for these in writing, then put them in the fee calculator next to what you pay today:
- The software price in Canadian dollars, and whether it’s billed monthly or yearly.
- The processing rate for each payment type: in-person credit, Interac debit, American Express, and online or keyed-in payments. Get the percentage and the per-payment fee for each.
- Who processes your payments, and whether you can use another processor.
- Hardware cost: the price to buy, or the full cost of financing over the whole term.
- Every other monthly fee: add-ons, support, statements and anything listed as “additional fees.”
- Contract length and the cancellation fee, and what happens to financed hardware if you leave early.
With those numbers, you can work out what a month like yours would cost and compare it fairly.
Compared with
- Lightspeed: restaurant plans from $89 a month in Canadian dollars, with a published processing rate of 2.6% + 10¢ in person.
- Square: a free POS plan with a flat 2.5% per in-person credit card sale, and a Plus plan for restaurants listed from $35 a month.

Beyond the rate
What the rate table doesn't show, taken from TouchBistro's own terms and help pages.
Can they hold your money?
TouchBistro's terms say the payment processor may limit your transactions or refuse to process for you, under that processor's own terms.
Source: touchbistro.comWorks offline?
Yes. No time or amount limits published. The page does not say whether this applies in Canada (the same FAQ mentions banking with Chase).
Source: touchbistro.comHardware lock-in
TouchBistro says it may not support you if you do not use hardware it has approved.

You cannot end the agreement before the term is over, and it renews for the same length unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before the term ends.

Common questions
How much does TouchBistro cost per month?
TouchBistro's point of sale is listed starting at $89 a month on their site, and its Essentials bundle starting at $99 a month. The page doesn't say which currency, and there's no Canada-specific pricing page. TouchBistro notes that hardware, payment processing and additional fees apply, so the real monthly cost is higher.
What are TouchBistro's credit card processing fees?
TouchBistro doesn't publish its processing rates. Payments run through its integrated partners, and you get the rate in a quote. Ask for the in-person credit, Interac debit, American Express and online rates in writing, plus any monthly or per-payment fees, so you can compare the full cost.
Is TouchBistro only for restaurants?
Yes. TouchBistro describes itself as POS software built just for restaurants, with features for tables, menus and the kitchen. If you run a retail shop or a service business, a general POS such as Square or Shopify is a closer fit, and both publish their rates.
Does TouchBistro include hardware?
The $89 starting price doesn't include hardware. The Essentials bundle, listed from $99 a month on their site, includes software, hardware and payments, though TouchBistro says payment processing and additional fees still apply. TouchBistro also offers hardware financing for venues with two or more terminals.
