Contractor leads: what each platform charges you, side by side

Thumbtack is US only, and Angi's Canadian brand is HomeStars. No platform publishes a per-lead price in Canada; only TrustedPros publishes a flat monthly fee.

Updated October 20, 2026 How we check prices Published by Ian Chang We may earn a fee from some providers. It never changes the prices we show or what we recommend. How we rank

The bottom line

  • The one published price: TrustedPros, $49 to $89 a month, depending on your service area.
  • Five ways to pay in Canada. Per lead (HomeStars, Google), per credit (Bark), a flat monthly membership (TrustedPros), a commission on each job (Jiffy), or ads you pay for whether or not anyone calls (Nextdoor).
  • No per-lead prices are published. HomeStars and Google show each lead’s price in your account. Bark publishes its credit price, not credits per lead.
  • HomeStars has no membership and no contract. You pay only when a homeowner shortlists you.
  • Judge a platform by the cost of a won job. Our cost per job calculator does the math in Canadian dollars.

Checked Oct 20 to 26, 2026 on each platform's own pages, help center or terms. "Not published" means we checked and the platform does not say; we never fill the gap with a guess. Each link goes to the platform's sign-up page for pros.

Is Thumbtack or Angi in Canada?

Thumbtack is US only. Its terms say: "The Platform is intended for users who reside in the United States of America." (Thumbtack terms)

Angi’s Canadian brand is HomeStars. HomeStars’ own help pages say: "Part of the Instapro Group and Angi family ... Canada:HomeStars" (HomeStars)

So the Canadian choice is mostly HomeStars and Google Local Services Ads, with Bark, TrustedPros and Jiffy as different ways to pay.

How we picked

A full price means one published price per lead (not a range) plus every monthly fee, added up at 20 leads a month, the cost per job calculator's starting number. Our pick is the lowest cost option that has every must-have, so without prices we only show who has them. Payment from a platform never changes this. How we pick

Flat fee or pay per lead?

TrustedPros is the only platform here with a flat, published monthly price: a membership of $49 to $89 a month, depending on your service area. With a flat fee, every extra job you win makes each job cheaper:

  • At $49 a month, 1 job won costs you $49, 2 jobs cost $24.50 each, 4 jobs cost $12.25 each.
  • At $89 a month, the same 4 jobs cost $22.25 each.

TrustedPros doesn’t say how many leads the membership brings, so the flat fee only wins if your area sends you enough jobs. On per-lead platforms like HomeStars, a slow month costs less because you pay only for the leads you get.

Getting money back

  • HomeStars credits a lead fee for wrong contact details, the wrong type of work, a duplicate shortlist or a job seeker. An unreachable homeowner counts only if you ask 7 to 20 days after the shortlist and you messaged within 48 hours on HomeStars.
  • Google gives automatic credits only, usually within 30 days, and no longer credits leads for job types or areas you don’t serve.
  • Bark returns all your credits from your first pack if you win no business, and credits for invalid leads if you ask within 14 days of buying.
  • Jiffy has nothing to refund: you pay only on completed jobs.

What it takes to join each platform

If you’re just starting out, check that you can get on before you budget for leads. Here is what each platform says it needs from a pro, how long approval takes, and whether you pay before or after the customer answers. Jiffy says it is for “established companies with a proven track record”, and TrustedPros’ free trial month waits until you have reviews, so a brand-new business may not get either right away.

What about Yelp Ads in Canada?

Yelp lists Canadian businesses, but we found no Canada-specific Yelp Ads page. The page served in Canada is the US one, with no currency shown, so we don’t list a Canadian price. The US rules are on honestfees.com.

Common questions

Is Thumbtack available in Canada?

No. Thumbtack's terms say the platform is intended for users who reside in the United States, and they bar pros based outside the US. Canadian contractors use HomeStars, Google Local Services Ads, Bark, TrustedPros or Jiffy instead.

Is Angi or HomeAdvisor available in Canada?

Not under those names. HomeStars' own site lists it as part of the Angi family, with HomeAdvisor and Angi in the USA and HomeStars in Canada. For Canadian pros, HomeStars is the Angi-family option.

How much do contractor leads cost in Canada?

Most platforms don't publish a per-lead price. HomeStars and Google show the price per lead inside your account. Bark publishes a credit price ($2.70 per credit on its Canadian help page) but not how many credits a lead costs. TrustedPros charges a membership of $49 to $89 a month, depending on your area.

Which lead platforms in Canada have no fees to join?

HomeStars says there are no joining or membership fees: you pay only when a homeowner shortlists you. Bark's Canadian page says it sends leads free from sign-up, and you pay credits to contact a customer. Jiffy is free to join and takes a percentage of each job instead.
